Everybody’s screaming.
Everyone’s crying.
So, what’s the occasion? Well, Congresswoman Omar got voted off the Foreign Affairs Committee.
The question is on adoption of the resolution.
Those in favor say I.I.
Those in favor say no.

It’s the opinion of It’s the opinion of the chair that the eyes have it and the resolution is agreed to and without objection, the motion to reconsider is laid on the table.
Does that remind you of anything? McCarthy yanked Omar off foreign affairs to pay back Pelosi for yanking his people off committees.
He didn’t want to do it.
Doesn’t think it’s right, but he had to do it.
You can’t let Democrats boot your boys off committees and turn the other cheek.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Consistency.
There is nothing consistent with the Republican party’s continued attack except for the racism and incitement of violence against women of color in this body.
Ilhan Omar just got hit with a political reality check and the reaction was absolute chaos.
AOC was furious.
Democrats were outraged and Republicans said one simple thing.
If the rules apply to everyone else, they apply to her, too.
What happened next sparked one of the biggest political meltdowns we’ve seen in years.
And trust me, you won’t believe the arguments that followed.
I’m in a town where we have a lot of people who are refugees who have come, some from Somalia, some from Bosnia.
I’ve never heard one of them say that America’s a terrible place or be uh unappreciative of our country.
Most of them are thankful.
I’ve met people who have come here from behind the Iron Curtain that got away from communism.
They’re some of the best Americans we have because they really appreciate how great our country is.
And then I hear Representative Omar say, “Oh, America’s a terrible place.
I thought there’d be justice and there’s no justice here.
” And it’s like, “Well, she came here and we fed her.
We clothed her.
She got welfare.
She got school.
She got healthcare.
” And then lo and behold, she has the honor of actually winning a seat in Congress.
And she says we’re a terrible country.
I think that’s about as ungrateful as you can get.
And so, while I’m not saying we forcibly send her anywhere, I’m willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia.
And I think she could look and and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia that has no capitalism, has no god-given rights guaranteed in a constitution, and has about seven different tribes that have been fighting each other of revenue to review the tax filings of US Representative Ilhan Omar on several grounds.
I am joined by nine Minnesota state representatives in making these requests and I think there’s six here today.
Um uh these representatives include Glenn Gruinhagen of Gleno, Eric Lucero of Dayton, Shane Mecclin of Clear Lake, Tim Miller of Prinsburg, Linda Runbeck of Circle Pines, Calbar of East Bethl, John Poston of Lakeshore, Dwayne Quaam of Byron, and Jeremy Mson of Lake Crystal.
We are making these this request on three direct grounds.
First, Representative Omar improperly and deliberately filed for a tax status for which she was not qualified in illegal action in both federal and state law.
The Minnesota Campaign Finance Board found on June 6th of this year that she illegally used campaign funds to pay a law firm to review her tax records.
The campaign finance board exposed crystalcle probable cause for a tax fraud or tax evasion investigation when they discovered that representative Omar filed as married and joint and filing jointly with Mr.
Ahmad Hersy in 2014 and 2015.
During those years she was legally married to Mr.
Ahmad Elme.
Did the legal did the illegal filing produce a lower tax liability for the couple? Did her illegal tax filing bring her tax exemption for which he was not legally qualified? Usually, people choose the tax filing status that yields them the lowest tax liability.
Also, the board shared that the couple file jointly during two specific years.
Ilhan Omar and Ahmad Hersy have been together as a couple for 17 years.
Given her record of crimes and violations of so many laws, it may be worth evaluating her her claims of status in those other years as well.
Second, Representative Omar lived together simultaneously with her first and second husbands at the same addresses in Minneapolis in in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2009 through 2011.
The tax enforcers may need to check if she used an illegal tax filing status and obtained tax deductions including standard deduction levels for which she was not qualified in those years.
Third, we know that Representative Omar took improper kickbacks from three Minnesota colleges in 2017 when she oversaw their state budgets in 2017.
Under campaign pressure, she returned those kickbacks in 2018.
It is worth checking to see if she reported the kickbacks as income in 2017 or deducted the paybacks as expenses in 2018.
Five grounds for an investigation include corruption in public in public office and tax evasions on grounds of illegal filing status, improper deductions, concealed income from kickbacks, and improper claims for expenses.
We are also aware of represent Omar’s pattern of improper conduct.
She has been fined by the campaign finance board for diverting campaign funds for an unpermitted political trip to Orlando.
She has been directed to pay back her expenses for uncovered political trips to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Florida, and Washington DC.
She has been punished for conversion of campaign funds to pay for personal legal and accounting services.
She has flouted laws regarding the filing of her personal financial data in a way that distorted the political campaign process.
On June 25th, I asked my Congresswoman, Angie Craig, to launch an investigation into these improprieties.
That went nowhere.
She said, “Do it yourself.
” So, on June 23rd, I asked, excuse me, on July 23rd, I asked the US House Ethics Committee to investigate Representative Omar.
That request is currently being reviewed by the Office of Congressional Ethics.
On that same day, I launched omarruth.
com in an effort to rally motans and Americans to help bring political pressure to bring about a congressional investigation.
After two weeks, we have over 44,000 citizens expressing their strong desire to bring about a full investigation and the list is growing.
I will be adding today’s request to the facts available on omarrtruth.
com.
Today, I and nine other representatives are asking the nonpartisan federal and state tax enforcers to open investigations.
We are simply asking them to do their jobs.
Question questions, anyone? Do state lawmakers have sway to influence the IRS or Minnesota Department of Revenue? Have you successfully asked for such things in the past? Is there precedent? I think uh certainly there’s precedent.
Uh and uh I think it’s incumbent upon us, Mary.
Um lawmakers, the media, and others when they see very clear, blatant violations of our laws to find every way we can to appeal to the people who can investigate and prosecute those laws.
And that’s what we’re doing here today.
How would a state lawmakaker’s request be different though than an average citizen? That’s what I’m asking.
Do you have any special sway or ability to request something? Yeah.
No, I I don’t think so.
Um, you know, I I I guess the fact that we each represent 40,000 people might be helpful and it might be something that uh uh that those individuals take under consideration.
But uh this uh this gives us an ability I think to in an organized deliberative fashion say we have asked the Minnesota Department of Revenue to do their job.
We have asked the IRS to do their job before we got here today.
Uh we don’t know if they have been fully informed and appraised of these facts.
After today, we can be sure that they have been fully informed and appraised of these facts.
So, President Trump [clears throat] has an obvious place in this.
Um, as the head of the I had a member of the Republican caucus threatened my life and you all and the Republican caucus rewarded him with one of the most prestigious committee assignments in this Congress.
This is about targeting women of color in the in the United States of America.
Don’t tell me because I didn’t get a single appointment.
My life was threatened.
Thank you.
Repans are waging a blatantly Islamophobic and racist attack on Congresswoman Omar.
And I’ve said it before, I will say it again.
The white supremacy happening is unbelievable.
This is despicable.
This is just a bunch of racist gaslighting.
Could it be the way that she’s time is? Could it be her religious practices? This clearly isn’t about what Ilhan Omar said as much as who she is.
Being a smart, outspoken black woman of a Muslim faith is apparently the issue.
The GOP is now doing what it is best at.
Weaponizing hate against a black, beautiful Muslim woman.
They turn Congress into a place of fearongering hate.
It is so painful to watch.
Who you all are really.
The gentleoman’s time has expired.
There will not be silence.
The gentleoman’s time has expired.
Omar, the gentleoman’s time has expired.
That our country is failing you today through this chamber.
You belong.
The gentleoman is no longer Well, I am Muslim.
I am an immigrant and interestingly from Africa.
Omar is not just a congresswoman.
She tells us she is a global citizen and people around the world celebrate her accomplishments.
We don’t know what those accomplishments are, but if you listen closely, the world is clapping.
I’m in a You know, it’s always fascinating how quickly the conversation changes when consequences finally arrive.
The moment Ilhan Omar was removed from the Foreign Affairs Committee, the reaction from the left was immediate.
Democrats weren’t talking about committee standards or past statements.
Instead, they immediately shifted the discussion toward racism, Islamophobia, and discrimination.
Now, whether you agree with Omar or not, that’s where the real debate began.
Republicans argued this wasn’t about identity at all.
Their position was simple.
Democrats previously removed Republican members from committees, and now Republicans were doing the same thing when they gained control.
In their eyes, this was about precedent and accountability.
Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers took to the House floor delivering emotional speeches claiming Omar was being targeted because she is a Muslim immigrant and a woman of color.
The speeches were dramatic.
The emotions were high and the political divide became even more obvious.
But then another issue entered the spotlight.
Several Minnesota lawmakers publicly raised questions regarding past allegations involving Omar’s tax filings and campaign finance matters.
Supporters of those investigations argued that these concerns deserved scrutiny.
Omar’s defenders responded that many of these accusations had been politically motivated and that critics were simply trying to damage her reputation.
And that’s really the heart of this entire controversy.
One side sees Omar as a symbol of progressive politics who is constantly attacked because of her views.
The other side sees her as a politician who has repeatedly generated controversy and should be held accountable like anyone else in public office.
What made this moment so explosive wasn’t just the committee vote itself.
It was the reaction afterward.
Instead of discussing whether the removal was justified, both sides immediately dug into their familiar political trenches.
Republicans celebrated what they viewed as a long overdue decision.
Democrats portrayed it as a dangerous political attack.
And the American public was left watching another chapter in Washington’s neverending political war.
The truth is this debate goes far beyond one congresswoman.
It’s about whether committee assignments should be based on conduct, whether political retaliation is acceptable, and whether the same standards are applied equally to everyone.
That’s why this story exploded across social media and cable news.
Because regardless of where you stand politically, moments like this reveal just how divided the country remains.
And judging by the reaction from both parties, this fight is far from
